As the junction of the Princes Highway and the Great Alpine Road, Bairnsdale is the perfect base to visit Buchan Caves, Omeo, Dinner Plains and Mount Hotham. Historic Church
During the depression, Italian painter Franscesco Floriani was commissioned to paint a ceiling fresco at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Bairnsdale. His mural of the Stations of the Cross has hundreds of figures in heaven and hell - something not to be missed.
