The property is ideally located within easy walking distance to the CBD, the Mitchell River board walk, local outdoor swimming pool. Bairnsdale is the business centre for East Gippsland hence it does have an extensive shopping strip which includes major stores, boutiques, antiques, and bookshops, plus over 50 cafes/restaurants for casual or formal dining.
Places of interest
A short drive takes you to Metung, Paynesville, Lakes Entrance, or Sale. Visit wineries, art galleries, antiques galore or craft markets. The more energetic can walk, cycle, or horse ride the Rail Trail, sail the Gippsland Lakes, or explore the Ninety Mile Beach. As the junction of the Princes Highway and the Great Alpine Road, Bairnsdale is the perfect base to visit Buchan Caves, Omeo, Dinner Plains, and Mount Hotham and the snow. From lakes to sea, mountains to forest, you are surrounded by natural beauty that is quite breathtaking.
Historic Church
During the depression, Italian painter Franscesco Floriani was commissioned to paint a ceiling fresco at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Bairnsdale. His mural of the Stations of the Cross has hundreds of figures in heaven and hell - something not to be missed.
