Dalfruin is a magnificent Federation home with its four tall chimneys - a stately landmark building in Bairnsdale. Built in 1910 by Scottish builder John McKnockiter for his family, John built many of the historic buildings in East Gippsland including what is now the Historical Society. The family named the property Dalfruin after a small town in Scotland and lived in the house for many years. The eye for detail is everywhere with its 12’ ceilings, stained glass windows, and intricate fret work. The house stands on half an acre of lovely grounds, in an ideal quiet location, walking distance to the CBD or Mitchell River.
Dalfruin B&B offers you three very different experiences. The ‘in house’ traditional B&B is inside Dalfruin itself, while the two lovely self-contained apartments are in the grounds of Dalfruin. BallyVista Studio Apartment or The Garden Apartment - whatever your choice, you will enjoy the beauty, peace and tranquillity of this gracious home.
